Question: I have been unable to have an erection, and I was wondering about taking viagra with my current medication. What type of reaction will there be? Can I use Viraga with Diovan and Metoprolol?

Answer: No problem unless you have pre-existing cardiac disease or angina and are using nitroglycerin.

Question: I have been taking Paxil since Feb. I started out with 20mg and now am taking 40mg. I have had ploblems sleeping since I started the Paxil. Even when I get several hours of sleep I still feel drowsy the next day. When I informed my doctor of this he changed me over to Effexor. Will this help my sleeping problem? Also I have had problems with sexual dissfunction since I started the Paxil. I am 27 and it is very embarrasing not to be able to perform. I have gotten ahold of some Viagra (a guy I work with was prescribed some for prostate problems but he didn't need them) and that helped but I feel too embarrased to tell my doctor. Does Effexor have the same side effects? Is there anything else that might help?

Answer: Like most drugs you will need to try the Effexor and see what side effects you experience. Effexor generally has different side effects than Paxil, but often some sexual libido decrease. The viagra is ok and is often used with the ssri in both men and women, I'd ask your md.

Question: A friend is battling infertility, someone told her that Viagra has been used in some cases to increase fertility. Is there some basis for this?

Answer: No. Viagra only increases blood flow to the penis or clitoris. It does not change the numbers of eggs or sperm that are viable.

Question: Would there be any problem increasing viagra dosage from 50 mg. to 100 mg. ? At the present time the 50 mg. dosage does not seem to bring about a desirable erection

Answer: This is the recommendation if the 50 mg does not work, taking the pill will not give an automatic erection, merely increases the blood flow necessary to the erection. Ensure you have stimulation of the penis to achieve erection. Also, if the 100 mg does not work, ensure your md has checked your thyroid function, testerone level and prolactin. Any can give lack of erections and is easily treated.

Question: I have been taking viagra for almost one year. I am on a 50mg tablet. I really am not getting the total or hoped for erection with this dosage. Would it be alright for me to increase my dosage to a 100mg. tablet?

Answer: The recommendations are to use 100 mg if 50 mg doesn't work. After 100 mg, you are unlikely to see an improvement. Also ensure your testerone levels, prolactin levels and thyroid functions are checked if the 100 mg doesn't do it. If any of these are not working correctly, you will experience erectile dysfunction which viagra may not correct.

Question: I am 46 years old and isulin dependant type 2 diabetic. I have been using viagra but not with great success. I still experience soft erection. I was thinking of trying a natural herbal call "Super Herbal V". Can you share some information concerning this product? Can it be used with viagra, are there any side effect?

Answer: I'm not familiar with this supplement. What dosage of viagra are you using? If 50 mg doesn't work, 100 mg is often effective. Also, you should get your testerone level checked. Viagra can't work in the absence of male hormones.

Question: I am a 43 year olf male. I am currently taking Prinivil, 10mg daily, for the treatment
of high blood pressure. I have been experiencing difficulty
in maintaining an erection during sex. It will be stay hard for only a
short while. It then will become a soft erection at best.
I was interested in trying Viagra to see if it would help me
maintain erections longer, but I was concerned about taking it
while taking Prinivil at the same time. Are you aware of any
adverse reactions to taking these at the same time?

Answer: No obvious interactions. You also might check your blood pressure closely to ensure you are not being overdosed blood pressure wise with the prinivil. Lastly, often one bp pill causes erectile dysfunction and a drug from another class won't. Worth discussing with your md.
