Question: I currently am suffering from acute tendentious in my ankle and can only
walk with relatively little pain with the help of the anti-inflammatory Cataflam. It
works, but is there any harm in taking it long term? I only take it with meals and have
had no problem with my stomach from it, but is long term use going to harm any other
organs, such as my liver?
Answer: Long term risks are decreased renal function and some liver toxicity risk. This is usually seen with use of greater than 10 years.

Cataflam (diclofenac potassium)
Question: I would appreciate any information you could forward on the advantages
and side effects of this drug?
Answer: Cataflam(diclofenac sodium) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Side
effects are similar to other NSAIDS. That is, mainly gastric distress, ulcers, diarrhea,
and occasional rash. It is used for pain and inflammatory conditions and is generally used
three times a day although a time release is available. Other brand name is Voltaren.
There doesn't appear to be major advantages to this drug versus other NSAIDS and it
generally costs more.
