Question: Will 1200 mg. of calcium eaten daily stop (or cure) brittle bones in a person over 70 who has brittle bones? Thank you.

Answer: Not usually, it will correct the deficiency of calcium. However, this is not the same as getting the calcium into the bones. Some agent like Fosamax or Miacalcin is usually necessary for that. To strengthen bones there must be calcium available and a way to put it into the bones. Sort of like one needs bricks to build a wall but, also a mason.
