Doctors' Answers to "Frequently Asked Questions" - Gastritis

These comments are made for the purpose of discussion and should NOT be used as recommendations for or against therapies or other treatments. An individual patient is always advised to consult their own physician.

Gastritis
Question: I have gastritis, which was verified endoscopically. I do not have H. pylori. I have had no success with any of the medications prescribed: prilosec with propulsid, carafate, and Maalox. I am rather discouraged since now I am unable to take NSAIDS for my plantar fascitis. I therefore have been left with no comfort for my gastritis or my heal spur. I wish I knew which direction I should go. Do I change gastroenterologists? No one has offered me relief by using NSAID with Cytotec.

Answer: Have you brought this up? It is an obvious choice. Also, combination of H2 blockers with prilosec is occasionally of help. Lastly, I suspect your GI person is more worried about your stomach than your foot. Do you have an Internist or Family Practice physician? They generally look at global problems. Have you seen a podiatrist for your plantar fascitis?
